Hi! I am a Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at Beihang University, China. I received my Ph.D. in 2021 from the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), Peking University, where I was fortunate to be supervised by Prof. Minghui Zhou. I am a recipient of the First Prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award (2024) and was selected for the Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program of the Beijing High Innovation Plan (2025).
My research lies broadly in empirical software engineering, with a particular emphasis on open source ecosystems. I am especially interested in how newcomers participate, learn, and grow in open source communities, and how project ecosystems can better support newcomer onboarding and long-term contributor retention. In recent work, I have also been exploring how AI—especially large language models (LLMs)—can assist newcomers by lowering entry barriers and providing personalized, context-aware onboarding support.
More broadly, my work integrates empirical methods, big data analytics, deep learning, and LLMs to uncover new insights into software development and to build intelligent tools that enhance developer productivity and software quality. I have published over 30 papers in premier venues such as ICSE, ESEC/FSE, ASE, TSE, TOSEM, and CSCW, and my work has been recognized with ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Awards.
